Coming Out
Inquire about this workIn the dream, a snake chased me and bit me.
I understood it as something within me that could no longer remain hidden or contained. The snake carried a force I needed, but had not yet allowed into my life. It did not wait to be invited. It pursued me, caught me, and entered through the bite.
The painting is about that moment when an instinctive force demands to come out—when what has been held beneath consciousness insists on becoming part of the life being lived.
The painting changes dramatically in bright light. In the direct sun—whether in the clear light of day or the warmer rays of sunset—the snake seems to ignite from within. The resin and glass catch the light, and its body begins to glow and burn against the darkness, making the force it carries almost physically visible.
