Henry David Thoreau, Walden
You stand there without knowing where to go, and still take a step toward something that calls you from within. The forest is not only life around you; it is also your inner world—deep, tangled, rich, and unknowable. You wander farther in. You lose track of time. You forget the way back. Sometimes it seems that even hope has left you.
And still, you take one step, and then another.Until suddenly, light breaks through the canopy.
In that moment, you know there is a way. Not because you can see where it leads, but because you can feel it beneath your feet.
So you keep going deeper. Because for a moment you have felt the strange reciprocity of being true to yourself: you found the courage to enter the forest, and the forest answered with light.
