Orhan Pamuk, My Name Is Red
Bonnie died in an accident. There was no better way for me to process her loss than through painting.
At first, the portrait was sad and dark—but that wasn’t who she was. Bonnie lived life fully: playful, joyful, and overflowing with love. As I continued painting, the portrait gradually became brighter and more colorful.
That is how she should be remembered—my bright spark of unconditional love and happiness.
